Rooflines Built for Millionaires Row
The historic homes along Monticello's State Street, part of what's known as Millionaires Row, and the Allerton mansion built 1899-1903 carried more architecturally complex rooflines than a standard county farmhouse of the same era. Monticello became the Piatt County seat in 1841, and its wealthiest properties have kept that architectural ambition in their rooflines ever since.
Repairing Roofs With More Complex Geometry
A historic Monticello roofline often has more valleys, dormers, and transitions than a simple gable roof, which changes how a repair or full replacement should be scoped compared to a standard house. Monticello's older, more elaborate rooflines deserve that scaled approach.
